The fork is our best ally when going over jumps, bumps, rocks and roots, making fast fly-overs possible. To be successulf at that, it needs to be super stiff and super smooth at the same time, sensible to small bumps while providing support for big hits.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce the Fox 40 Performance Black. This top of the line racing product does all that to perfection. It is an engineering masterpeace and features the most advanced suspension technologies.

Chassis

As its name implies, the Fox 40 has 40mm aluminium 7 series stanchions, providing the rigidity needed to attack the hardest trails. The low friction seals deliver the very best sensitivy to smaller irregularities.

In addition, the chassis is designed to offer the best possible stiffness while being extremely light. At barely 2.8kg on the scale, the 40 is one of the lightest in the dual crown class. The lower leg arch has been revised to shave some precious grams while offering an increased clearance for the head tube.

Did I mention that the chassis is equipped with a floating axle? This revolutionnary system offers an absolutely perfect match between the fork’s wheel mounting surface and the front hub flanges, thus eliminating unwanted friction between the upper and lower fork legs.

Air chamber

Regarding the air system, the Fox 40 is equipped with the FLOAT EVOL pneumatic chamber, Fox’s top of the line air spring design. Negative and positive air chambers automatically balance each other for an always perfect behaviour.

This technology is further enhanced by Fox’s patented lower legs bypass channels: a technology that dynamically increases the air chamber’s volume in order to take advantage of the full travel without excessive ramping. Another benefit of this mechanism is that it continuously circulates the oil, maintaining every part well lubricated.

Last but not least, the lower leg bleeder allow for atmospheric pressure equalisation at the push of a button, preventing pressure build-up in the lower legs that dramatically decreases fork performance.

Hydraulic cartridge

On the hydraulic side of things, the Fox 40 benefits from the GRIP damper, allowing for adjustable compression and rebound.

GRIP damper uses Fox’s FIT sealed cartridge technology combined with a coil-sprung, internal floating piston. Working with Teflon infused oil, the system allows excess oil to purge through a specially designed port at the top of the damper to maintain consistent damping and increase durability.

In addition, on the compression side, the high performance mid-valve allows for a more effective shaping of the compression damping curve, offering confidence inspiring support to combat brake dive and increase cornering stability.
