How long does it take to recharge an Ultra Bee battery?

It all depends on the charger you use and the capacity of your battery.

For instance, our standard charger can charge our Mega Range battery in 7 and a half hours. The calculation is simple: the charger provides 10A, and the battery has a capacity of 75Ah.

If you’re more of a need-for-speed type, our Ultra Charger can juice up the battery in just 2 hours, thanks to its 40A delivery.

However, keep in mind that, like with electric cars, frequent fast charging isn’t recommended for everyday use.

Indeed, too many rapid charges can shorten the lifespan of your cells, although it doesn’t pose any risks to the safety of your battery.

So, while it’s perfect for a quick boost, it’s best to save it for those special occasions.

Which charger should I opt for with an Ultra Bee battery?

In order to find the perfect charger for your battery, it’s important to consider both its capacity and how you plan on using your bike.

First off, take a look at the capacity of your Ultra Bee battery. If you have the stock 55 Ah version, it will charge up quicker than our 75 Ah Mega Range.

When it comes to usage, if you’re a thrill-seeking enduro rider who can’t wait to get back on the road after lunch, then the Ultra Charger is definitely for you!

On the other hand, if you use your bike mainly for commuting and have time to kill duroing the charging time, a standard charger should do just fine.

The Standard Charger has a lower current (10A), which means it takes longer to reach full charge compared to our Ultra Charger.

And speaking of speed – our Ultra Charger boasts an impressive charging current of up to 40A! This means you’ll be able to charge your battery four times faster than with a standard charger.

How to properly use an Ultra Bee battery's charger?

It’s crucial to power up the charger before plugging it into your battery. Skipping this step will cause an electrical arc, potentially melting the connectors.

This arc occurs due to the voltage difference between the battery and the charger. The higher the battery voltage, the more significant the arc will be.

If you’re using an Ultra Charger, we advise against constantly running it at full capacity. While it’s totally safe to use it at full capacity, frequent rapid charges can shorten the lifespan of your cells.

So, adjust the charging rate based on the time you have available. For instance, if you’ve got all night, a 5 or 10A charge will do the trick.

On the other hand, if you’re on a lunch break and need to hit the road in an hour, you can go ahead and unleash the full 40A power of your Ultra Charger.

How are your Ultra Bee batteries made?

Crafted in France, our Sur Ron Ultra Bee batteries are assembled with unmatched precision. We use premium cells that consistently deliver high power while retaining their capacity for years.

We put them to the test for months wherever adventure takes us, from enduro trails to road and MX tracks, whether it’s in icy snow or dusty heat under the blazing sun.

Each cell group is securely held in place by custom holders and connected by specifically cut copper plates, ensuring optimal protection and energy transfer.

Encased in a sturdy stainless steel housing and shielded by fireproof anti-vibration components, our Ultra Bee batteries absorb shocks and vibrations.

The real-time BMS BT system monitors all internal battery parameters, from each cell group’s voltage to temperature sensors, cutting off current if necessary.

How far can I go with your Ultra Bee batteries?

Range is a crucial factor to consider when purchasing a battery.

Everyone wants to know how many kilometers or miles they can do with their new battery. However, this distance depends on various factors such as terrain, elevation, and the rider’s weight.

If you have an idea of the distance you cover with the stock battery, you can safely assume that you’ll alsmot double this number with our Ultra Bee batteries.

They offer two significant improvements:

Increased capacity measured in Wh. More efficient cells that dissipate very little energy as heat.

With our batteries, you can enjoy long rides without worrying about the remaining charge level.

Are your Ultra Bee batteries water-resistant?

Just like our range of batteries for Sur Ron Light Bee as well as our Talaria Sting batteries, our batteries for Sur Ron Ultra Bee come with a similar protection rating to IP65 (dust resistant and protected against water jets).

Engineered for both enduro and road riding, our batteries assure worry-free rides through rain-soaked streets, muddy tracks, and dusty trails.

It’s important to clarify that the scope of enduro and road riding doesn’t include: cleaning with high-pressure water jets (such as Karcher), full immersion in water (we’re still waiting on moto-diving to catch on), or outdoor storage.

How heavy is an Ultra Bee battery?

The weight of an Ultra Bee battery can vary based on a few key factors. For example, the type of cells used by the manufacturer, whether resin, epoxy, or foam is included, and of course, the battery’s capacity all come into play.

Take, for instance, our Mega Range battery, an 80V 75Ah model, which tips the scales at around 24kg. Comparatively, other batteries on the market typically weigh between 25kg to 27kg, often due to the use of LifePo pouch instead of cells.

Now, let’s talk capacity. While having a higher capacity is fantastic for longer rides, it also means more cells and, in turn, more weight.

Case in point: We once crafted a prototype for Cyprien’s Ultra Bee, featuring an 80V 85Ah capacity. However, this beast of a battery weighed in at over 30kg. After giving it a spin a few times, Cyprien decided he preferred sacrificing a bit of autonomy for a more manageable weight.

It’s essential to strike the right balance between capacity and weight. Too much weight can significantly affect the bike’s behavior and overall agility. So, finding that sweet spot ensures optimal performance and a fantastic riding experience.
